Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors

The Louisiana State Licensing Board (LSLBC) was created in 1956 by Act  233 of the Legislature (La. R.S. 37:2150-2192).  The mission and purpose  of this agency is the protection of the general public from incompetent  and fraudulent acts of a contractor while promoting the integrity of  the construction industry.  The State Licensing Board for Contractors  consists of nineteen (19) Commercial members appointed by the Governor  representing all segments of the contracting industry, and five (5)

FEMA Disaster Assistance

Provides assistance after federally declared disasters, including:

  • Temporary housing 
  • Home repairs 
  • Other disaster-related expenses 

Apply online, by phone, or through the FEMA App

U.S. Small Business Administration

Disaster loans are available for:

  • Homeowners 
  • Renters 
  • Businesses 
  • Private nonprofit organizations 

These loans may help repair or replace uninsured disaster losses. 

Office of Community Development

Administers federal disaster recovery programs and connects Louisiana residents, businesses, and communities with long-term recovery, housing, rebuilding, and resilience resources following disasters.


  • Immediate Response-Red Cross, Salvation Army, Louisiana 211
  • Financial Assistance - FEMA, SBA
  • Long-Term Recovery - LOCD, housing programs, rebuilding resources and resilience planning.

National Center for Disaster Fraud

The National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) is the result of a  partnership between the U.S. Department of Justice and law enforcement  and regulatory agencies to form a national coordinating agency within  the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice to improve and further the detection, prevention, investigation, and prosecution of fraud related to natural and man-made disasters, and to advocate for the  victims of such fraud.
